11th NFC 

The Eleventh National Finance Commission 11th NFC began its first meeting today in Islamabad. Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb urged the federation and provinces to start revenue-sharing talks with unity, openness, and mutual respect.

He welcomed chief ministers, provincial finance ministers, and other members. He said the session was both a constitutional duty and a chance to improve cooperation between governments.

Tenth NFC Award Expired in July 2025

Aurangzeb reminded participants that the Tenth NFC Award expired on July 21, 2025. Therefore, he stressed that the Eleventh NFC process must proceed without delay.

He noted that the prime minister personally monitored the matter to ensure timely progress.

Meeting Rescheduled After Severe Floods

The minister said the meeting was postponed earlier due to devastating floods in Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Even so, the provinces showed full readiness to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities.

He added that concerns about the NFC could only be resolved through sincere and transparent dialogue.

Federal Government Focused on Listening

Aurangzeb said the federal government attended mainly to listen. He asked all stakeholders to participate with open minds.

He praised the provinces for signing the National Fiscal Pact and for helping achieve mandatory surpluses under the IMF program. This cooperation, he said, showed national unity.

Collective Strength Needed for Economic Stability

Despite a challenging year marked by floods and security issues, the federation remained united. He emphasized that the same unity must guide the Eleventh NFC negotiations.

He called the NFC crucial for fair resource distribution, financial stability, and long-term growth. Moreover, he said the forum allows the country’s best financial minds to collaborate.

Discussions to Continue in Coming Weeks

The finance minister said meaningful discussions would continue in the weeks ahead. He encouraged all members to engage constructively and respectfully.
