The Pakistani rupee (PKR) finally closed in the green against the US dollar (USD) on Thursday. This marks its first gain after 62 consecutive days of decline.

PKR Posts Marginal Gain Against Dollar

During today’s interbank session, the rupee gained one paisa against the dollar. It settled at PKR 280.26 by the end of trading.

Although the gain remained modest, it signaled a temporary pause in the currency’s prolonged downward trend.

Mixed Performance Against Major Currencies

Meanwhile, the rupee showed mixed movement against other global currencies. It strengthened against some, while it weakened against others.

Notably, the euro, British pound, and Australian dollar all closed higher during the session.

Losses Against Gulf Currencies

However, the PKR ended the day in the red against key Middle Eastern currencies. Both the UAE dirham (AED) and the Saudi riyal (SAR) recorded minor gains against the rupee.
