India streamlines visa rules in boost for Chinese professionals

India has relaxed its business visa rules. The move aims to speed up the entry of foreign engineers and technicians. As a result, local manufacturers are expected to benefit.

New Digital Platform Launched

First, the government introduced a new digital platform. It allows companies to generate sponsorship letters online. This system reduces paperwork and saves time.

At the same time, visa application forms have been simplified. Authorities have also removed the need for extra approvals from multiple ministries.

Support for Manufacturing Sector

Importantly, the relaxed visa rules apply to factory installation and commissioning. They also cover maintenance, production, and technical training.

Indian factories often rely on Chinese professionals. These experts help operate Chinese machinery and train local workers. Therefore, the new policy directly supports industrial output.

Improving India–China Relations

Meanwhile, the move signals warming ties between New Delhi and Beijing. India had restricted most Chinese visits after the 2020 border clash.

However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China earlier this year. He met President Xi Jinping and discussed restoring cooperation.

Economic Impact of Visa Delays

Previously, strict visa checks hurt production. According to the Observer Research Foundation, electronics makers lost nearly $15 billion over four years.

Major Chinese firms like Xiaomi also faced delays. Expansion plans slowed down. The solar industry suffered from labor shortages as well.
