Islamabad income tax Senate seeks
The Senate seeks asked members to submit suggestions on the Income Tax (Third Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Bill Presented in Session
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry placed the bill before the House. Then, the chair asked senators to send written proposals to the Senate Secretariat by Monday.
Furthermore, the session took place under the chairmanship of Senator Shahadat Awan.
Committee Review
The chair said the Standing Committee on Finance will examine the bill. The committee must submit its report within ten days. Therefore, the committee’s recommendations will guide the Senate’s formal advice.
After Senate approval, the bill will go to the National Assembly for further consideration.
Privatisation Commission Bill Referred
The Senate forwarded the Privatisation Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to the relevant standing committee. Prime Minister’s Adviser on Privatisation, Muhammad Ali, moved the motion. He asked the House to endorse the bill in the same form passed by the National Assembly.
Consequently, the committee will now review the proposed changes and submit a report to the House.
Journalists’ Protection Bill
The Senate approved sending the Journalists and Media Professionals Protection Bill, 2025 to a joint sitting of parliament. This move aims to fast-track discussion and consensus.
Tourism & Devolution
When asked about tourism in Chitral, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry explained that the federal government had taken steps to promote the sector. However. He reminded senators that tourism became a provincial subject after the 18th Amendment.
