Pakistan has witnessed a sharp decline in solar system prices, giving consumers a rare chance to adopt clean and affordable energy solutions before the upcoming summer season.

Winter Reduces Power Consumption, Driving Price Drop

With winter arriving, national power consumption has decreased. This lower demand led to a significant reduction in solar panel prices. Experts say households planning to switch to solar energy will greatly benefit before high electricity bills return.

Current Solar System Rates

Market reports show that prices for 5kW to 15kW solar systems have dropped by up to Rs. 150,000. A 5kW system now costs Rs. 550,000, including panels, an inverter, and essential accessories. Meanwhile, a 7kW system is available for Rs. 625,000, capable of running two 1.5-ton inverter ACs, a refrigerator, fans, lights, and a washing machine.

Similarly, the 10kW system now costs Rs. 900,000, while the 15kW system is priced at Rs. 1.3 million. These larger systems are suitable for spacious homes and small commercial units. They can operate multiple air conditioners, refrigerators, and other heavy appliances at the same time.

Government Incentives Boost Solar Adoption

The price reduction follows President Asif Ali Zardari’s temporary suspension of the 16% General Sales Tax (GST) on solar consumers. He also directed the Federal Tax Ombudsman to review the matter. Industry experts say the combination of lower prices and tax relief creates the best buying moment for consumers considering solar installation.

Planning for the Future

Consumers are advised to act quickly and install solar systems before summer. Early adoption can help manage electricity costs, reduce reliance on the national grid, and contribute to cleaner energy in Pakistan.
